Sweating for a Cause: BrunchXBurn Recap

BRUNCHxBURN, a health and fitness event held to raise money for Chicago AVON39, occurred a week ago at the Gold Coast Equinox facility inside The 900 N Michigan Shops. All proceeds from the event went towards AVON39 and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Kathy Ruda, a fitness inspiration in Chicago's millennial scene, created and organized BRUNCHxBURN through her own personal brand, HERfitness. The event was a huge success filled with hair stylings, top-notch fitness, sought-out raffle prizes, post-workout champagne and exclusive goodie bags.

After having your hair styled into fitness braids by Blowout Junkie Chicago, attendees were able to choose between two classes to take; Cycling or Best Butt Ever. With bikini season in our horizon, I chose Best Butt Ever - the ultimate peach emoji in the form of a fitness class. Best Butt Ever consisted of a 45 minute workout using resistant bands, 7.5 lb weights, and gliding discs to work every glut and hamstring muscle. Staying true to a Beyonce vs. Jay Z theme, the playlist consisted of some classic Bey oldies and new Lemonade remixes.

Needless to say, I LOVED IT. Emmanuella St. Juste-Hill was awesome at getting the class pumped up and I would defiantly recommend taking a class from her. Not to mention she loves to take cute post-class pics (see above)!

The event's raffle table was filled with a fun selection of prizes including a Red Bull cooler, free pair of Nike shoes, gift cards to Chicago hot spots, and more. Although I did not win a basket, it was exciting to see other attendees become overjoyed at their winnings! Each guest also received a complimentary goodie bag including granola bars, discount codes to companies such as Scorch Cosmetics, and the not-yet-out June edition of Women's Health Magazine.

BRUNCHxBURN was an absolute blast and the best part was that all proceeds benefited a great cause. I was very impressed with how quickly and efficiently it all came together and hope to find more events of this nature to attend this summer in the city!
